چکیده
carboxymethyl cellulose (cmc)-polyvinyl alcohol (pvoh) blend film, containing 0-10% cellulose nanowhiskers (cnw), was produced through casting method, while physical properties of the films being investigated. cmc-pvoh-cnw nanocomposites, were prepared with a diluted suspension of cellulose nanowhiskers. nanowhiskers suspension was prepared through acid hydrolysis of cotton linter by sulfuric acid and contained rod like particles, averaging lengths of 240 nm and diameters of 13 nm. a 6.86% reduction in total moisture absorbency was achieved by a 10% wt pvoh addition to the cmc film. ultimate break tensile strength and strain increased by 19.25% and 12.21%, respectively, through an addition of 10% wt of pvoh. x-ray diffraction (xrd) test revealed uniform distribution of nanoparticles in biopolymer matrix. the addition of 10% wt cellulose nanowhiskers decreased the moisture absorption of the blend film while increasing the ultimate tensile strength of the film by 17.65% vs. 47.05%, respectively.

Background: Edible films and coatings are biodegradable that can preserve the quality and extend the shelf life of foods. The aim of this study was to investigate the physical and mechanical properties, and antimicrobial activity of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) film containing Artemisia sieberi Essential Oil (AEO). Methods: The studied parameters were the antibacterial activity and physical p...
متن کاملEffect of carboxymethyl cellulose concentration on physical properties of biodegradable cassava starch-based films
BACKGROUND Cassava starch, the economically important agricultural commodity in Thailand, can readily be cast into films. However, the cassava starch film is brittle and weak, leading to inadequate mechanical properties. The properties of starch film can be improved by adding plasticizers and blending with the other biopolymers. RESULTS Cassava starch (5%w/v) based films plasticized with glyc...
متن کاملSynthesis, Characterisation and Flocculation Properties of Carboxymethyl Cellulose-g Acrylamide
Graft copolymers of acrylamide on carboxymethyl cellulose (d.s 0.4-0.5) were prepared by the use of ceric ion, ceric ion/reductant molecule initiator systems in aqueous medium. The graft copolymers were characterized by IR spectroscopy. The extent of graft copolymerisation was measured in terms of grafted chains as a function of both ceric ion and ceric ion/reductant molecule concentrations. It...

Carboxymethyl cellulose [C6H7O(OH)3x(OCH2COOH)x]n is a derivative of the regenerated cellulose [C6H10O5]n with hydroxy-acetic acid (hydroxy ethanoic acid) CH2(OH)COOH or sodium monochloroacetate ClCH2COONa. The CMC backbone consist of D-glucose residues linked by -1,4-linkage. The molecular mass of one glucose unit in CMC chain is mCMC = 146.14 + 75.04x, where x 3 is the degree of substitu...
متن کاملCompression properties of polyvinyl alcohol--bacterial cellulose nanocomposite.
Despite the established use of total joint replacement for the treatment of advanced degeneration of articular cartilage, component loosening due to wear and osteolysis limits the lifespan of these joint prostheses. In the present study, nanocomposites consisting of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and bacterial cellulose (BC) nanofibers were investigated as possible improved cartilage replacement mat...
